As I told previously, my game SteamyBalls was exposed in Casual Connect USA in San Francisco on July 30, 31 and August 1, 2013. My co-developer Yoeri Staal, from StaalMedia, drove his amazing Mustang rented car through thousand km of roads and even through a tornado!
Our game was there with more than a hundred other featured games, all of them I must say, full of quality! Great job are the guys doing! It was an honour to be there, really. The game conference was sponsored by many big names of the industry and also the Indie Prize committee.
After three intense and fun days, with more than 100 development teams showcasing their games, fifteen of them won prizes and awards from the showcase sponsors and Indie Prize committee. It was time for the prizes and the judges picked the best game, best plot, best soundtrack, best multiplayer game… and our little baby, my very first commercial game SteamyBalls, was picked and we received an awesome Director’s Choice Award for SteamyBalls! 😀
You can see the other contestant games and the winners in the official page of Indie Prize. The Casual Connect and Indie Prize are usually celebrated three-four times a year and they try to feature the best and most promising independent and talented innovative games and development studios. Now we are motivated to keep making more and better games and keep giving all of you people fun! 🙂
Having this awesome acknowledgement for my first game makes me really happy and glad I took the decission of quiting my job and start doing what I really love. It was not easy, but hey, if you want to take the step, go! A last line is to thank my family and friends who supported me, myself for trying to make this dream come true, Casual Connect and Indie Prize for supporting the independent awesome game studios, and of course my co-developer Yoeri Staal for all his big help and awesomeness to make this all come true!
If you want to also get awarded, make a great game, and aply for upcoming Indie Prize Showcases in Kyiv (October 2013), Amsterdam (February 2014), Singapore (May 2014) and San Francisco (July 2014).
